If you’re looking for a versatile, easy to use the cooker, then you need to consider a pellet smoker seriously. Smokers or Pellet grills utilize an electronically controlled thermostat and feeding system to nourish wood pellets to the smoker. This permits the smoker to maintain an even, predictable heat with the addition of wood as needed. Unlike pellet stoves, the wood pellets created for smokers are food safe and can be obtained in several wood types and tastes to match the foods being grilled or smoked.

I use this as a smoker only and it’s phenomenal for the price. Make sure you do an initial burn at around 350 for at least an hour to set it in first. After that it works like a charm. Took me about 30 to 40 minute to set up, and it’s worth it. I use it almost every day now.

Great grill, well made and easy to use.
Set up is a pain and the manufacturer could have made it much easier by welding the flange pieces to the firebox instead of making you bolt them on.
Otherwise assembly is straightforward.

Customer Review
My husband loves this! He has used it 4 times in the month since he got it. He has smoked 2 Boston butts, a chicken, a turkey, a turkey breast, and country style pork ribs. They all came out great. He had a little trouble maintaining the temperature when the ambient temperature was in the low 20s and there was a strong wind. He put up a wind break and the problem was solved. Despite keeping it covered when not in use, there is some bubbling in the paint. He has had that happen with every grill he has owned, though.
Novice smoker but followed directions for seasoning the smoker and then used it on Memorial day! Chicken and sausage turned out great but the ribs were OUTSTANDING!! Could not be more pleased with our selection! Will be using this a lot this summer. Smoker held its temperature very nicely and the smoke was very easy to regulate. I love this thing!

Customer Review
I’d go with the 18” at a minimum. I relied on a couple reviews that said 18” was more than they needed. This unit is pretty darn small. If you only do port butts, fine, but no way you can do a full pork belly or spatchcock turkey or big rib rack on the 14. I did not even take this unit out of box. I could tell the grates were too small for pretty much anything I want to cook. I’m sure it works great but it’s pretty limited due to the size. Draw a 14” circle on a piece of paper and if you first reaction is “that’s too small”, like me, get the 18 or 22.
simple to assemble. great directions on best way to smoke. Love not using lighter fluid or starter charcoal. Only need to add charcoal after 4 hours so no spending all day babysitting. 14 inch size is perfect for two people and have left overs – especially with double layer grill. Have cooked briskets, chicken and sausage. All perfect. Website is great for instructions and ideas

Customer Review
Within the first week, I used it for a 20-pound turkey, a prime rib, and two chickens — all came out perfectly. For the prime rib, I added potatoes to the bottom of the rack and they came out perfectly cooked in the time it took to cook the roast. As for the two chickens, when the top one reached the proper temperature, it took another 10 or so minutes for the second to reach temp. Hey, I can only carve one chicken at a time anyway! Very pleased with this purchase. Glad I got this over the smaller but newer, lid-less version. I have a large five-burner grill and two fryers; this is a nice companion to the grill and will definitely replace the fryers! Assembly went fairly easily as well.
I read through the reviews and decided to purchase this Infrared grill to cook the Thanksgiving. The turkey came out perfectly, it took 2 and half hours to cook it. The skin was crispy, the meat was juicy, all in all it was spectacular. I made twin chickens the other day, I did notice that the top chicken cooked much faster than the one on the bottom. This wasn’t a big deal, since I only needed one at the time, but it was good to know. I definitely recommend this product, highly convenient and a big time saver.

HOW DOES A PELLET BARBECUE WORK?
A Traeger pellet barbecue is easy and safe to operate. As soon as you turn on your Traeger, the ignition rod in the incinerator is activated. A large screw ensures the supply of sufficient wood pellets in the oven. The air supply in the incinerator is regulated by the “draft induction fan”, so that the wood pellets get enough oxygen to burn. The ignition rod glows red from the heat long enough to ignite the pellets. This process works entirely electrically, and everything continues to work as long as the grill is on. To operate the ignition rod, screw and air supply, standard household electrical power is required. So buying a Traeger pellet barbecue can save you a lot of effort.
HEAT SUPPLY OF PELLET SMOKERS
Directly above the incinerator, there is a heat shield that directs the heat from the oven to the grill. The steel drip tray is located just above the heat shield, in which the dripping fat is collected. This drip tray also ensures that the heat is evenly distributed over the grill.
This effective heat supply ensures that everyone cooks very evenly. Every ingredient is completely surrounded by hot, smoky air so that the dish gets a perfect preparation from all sides. The use of a rotisserie is therefore not necessary in a Traeger grill. The ingredients don’t even need to be turned unless you want to grill at a high temperature or sear a grid in the meat. With a Traeger grill, you can quickly put a deliciously cooked, juicy and tender focus on the table, without any hassle.
TEMPERATURE REGULATION
The temperature in the grill is entirely digitally controlled by the electronic control panel. A microprocessor controls the amount of heat and smoke in the grill. This determines whether more or fewer pellets must be transported to the incinerator. There are two types of controllers: the digital controller and the manual controller. The digital controller makes it possible to enter a temperature, after which the required amount of pellets is delivered to the incinerator. The manual controller has three positions: smoke, medium and high.
CONSUMPTION
When using Pellet smokers for the first four minutes, 300 watts of electricity is required. After four minutes, 50 watts per hour are needed. This is equivalent to a standard household light bulb.
Is a pellet smoker worth it?
If you want a grill that lets you grill, barbecue, bake and use other popular cooking methods, a pellet grill is your best bet. We think that these grills are worth the price because they are easy to use and inexpensive to operate
How much does a pellet smoker cost?
If you are serious about real wood fire flavor in an easy to use unit then you really should consider a pellet grill. Pellet grills can cost anywhere from around $500 for a small one to up to $9,000 for a big and fancy one
Do pellet grills use a lot of electricity?
Wood pellet smokers and grills are fueled with wood pellets but require electricity to operate various components such as control panels, thermometers, augers, and fans. They can operate on standard 120 VAC power, gas generator, power station or from a power inverter connected to a car or boat battery
